Recently I discovered a brand – Shoxie Collection – whose line contained pants with 37 inch inseams and whose maxi dresses run anywhere from 60 inches to 64 inches!
Shoxie recently had a sale where three of their dresses went on sale for $38! A brief scan of the shoulder to hem measurement indicated that the lengths ranged from 62.5 inches to 64 inches – lengths that would likely cover my 6 foot tall frame. Given the gorgeous print and colors of the dresses coupled with the price, I knew this was a sale I could not miss! I quickly purchased all 3 dresses.
My purchase arrived incredibly fast! – 2 days after I made the payment.
Upon opening the package and seeing the vibrancy of the colors, i knew I was in for a treat. I quickly said my #tallgirlprayer and hoped that the measurements were indeed correct and that no ankles would be shown in the trying on process – Amen.
I was pleasantly surprised – all three dresses hit the hit the floor with no shoes on. The fit of these maxi dresses are perfect for tall women without heels. I wore a one inch heel with the dresses and while the heels of the shoes showed a bit, all ankles were covered – Amen!
First off the Printed Kaftan that was inspired by The Style Pantry (I adore her style and her blog btw!) was gorgeous! The tropical print was unique and the boldness of the colors made for an head turning dress. The dress also featured batwing sleeves, although I would call them butterfly sleeves because they gave an ethereal effect when the arms were raised. The fabric was a breezy polyester that was not rough on the skin. In all I was very satisfied with the construction.
I actually wore this dress to BusBoysandPoets for a friends celebratory graduation brunch this Sunday and got compliments from strangers every few feet!
Next up were the Cinched Front Maxi Dresses in Coral and Jade. These dresses featured dolman sleeves with a similar cinched gathering at the bust as with the kaftan. The fabric of these were a bit translucent however. To combat this, Shoxie provided a matching slip to wear under the dresses and this worked wonderfully for the Jade colored dress. I have to say, for the Coral colored dress, I did not like the matching slip because it really showed through the fabric – I could see the outline of the slip. I switched the coral slip out for a flesh tone colored slip I owned and that worked perfectly. If I were Shoxie I would consider using a flesh tone slip for the lighter colored fabrics in the future.
In all I was impressed with the look of these dresses and I am happy with the addition to my Spring and Summer wardrobe.
All in all, I loved my purchases from Shoxie. My only wish is that the hemlines were a bit longer to allow for heels. However, with flats these maxi dresses should work for most tall women.
These dresses are still on sale until 5/15! check out http://www.shoxie.com to purchase them.
