I remember when the midi skirt trend started about 4 years ago – all I could say was hallelujah !!!! As short and average sized women around the world loved the mid calf trend, tall women rejoiced at the option for fashionable skirts that could hit us at or below the knee. Yes that’s right, midi skirts hit us long legged girls at the knee – but that’s perfect. I grew tired of too short skirts which erred towards lewd.
The good thing about midi skirts for tall women is that they are readily available in a variety of colors, prints and styles. I tend to choose midi skirts with an A-line cut as it flatters my apple shape better than figure hugging skirts. A-line skirts nips us apple shapes at the waist and draws the eye to the smallest part of your waist creating a curves.
One of my favorite places to hunt for midi skirts is Chicwish. Chicwish offer stunning prints in various skirt styles. I stumbled on this Chicwish Turn Back Time Scenic Print Midi Skirtand instantly fell in love! This was the perfect skirt length – hitting me slightly below the knee. The print featured a scenic village vista in a vibrant color scheme.
I headed over to the boardwalk near The Washington Nationals Park after a day in the city. It was a pretty chilly day but I felt like wearing my Ankara Print Midi Skirt that had been sitting in my closet all summer. I purchased this gorgeous skirt from an Etsy store calledThe African Shop. The store is currently down due to one of the owners, Christelle, being ill. Sending positive vibes and well wishes to this talented lady.
The skirt has an inner lining and the Dutch wax print fabric is naturally thick so it did provide good warmth and that was also the main reason I didn’t wear it during the warm summer.
I’m obsessed with any African print clothing and have been slowly collecting unique Dutch Wax Print fabric pieces.
I paired the skirt with my Nine West Kenie Sandal, Calvin Klein Sleeveless Tie Neck Blouse and my Gap Tall Academy Blazer.
